How Camera Position Can Drastically Change A Photograph’s Story

“Being at the right place at the right time”. You hear this a lot and most times it’s just luck, but photographers need to train themselves to be in the right place at the right time to capture better images.

Photographers Thijs groot Wassink and Ruben Lundgren, illustrate why choosing a particular angle and point of view can change the effectiveness of a photograph. Seasoned photographers will set up, frame and camp out in a location waiting for the perfect shot so that all they have to do is press the shutter when the action happens, whereas those less experienced pull their camera out  point towards the action after it has already happened and essentially reacting. This in most cases misses the most interesting moment which seasoned photographers try to predict where the action will be.

These two photographers walked the streets and took photographs from opposing sides, when viewed side by side, you can see how different the end result can be depending on how the photographer is positioned during the shot.
